St. Patty's Day

Growing up every day was a holiday. You know... "Happy Monday!", "Happy Tuesday!" or "Happy Wednesday!" you get the picture. It is now ingrained into my everyday life. When holidays actually did come around, then it was time to go all out! For St. Patty's Day, mom would have all her little people out and there would be lox & bagels, barley, corned beef and cabbage along with some sort of leprechaun mishap.

I have done my motherly duty to pass on these crazy family traditions. One year the leprechauns came and turned over our couches and tossed laundry all over the house and left a green parakeet named Shamrock. (that was the year I had a friend bring her sister over so we could finally meet. I was HORRIFIED that my house was in shambles.)

The next year our pup turned a rainbow of colors from the leprechauns. The traps are always out and it always seems to last a couple days.

This year it went like this...

Sunday: I enjoyed my lox & bagels.

Monday: Dylan made his traps while I painted toes.

Tuesday: A leprechaun left a box of Lucky Charms inside Dylan's backpack.

Wednesday: Dylan's trap was mysteriously moved to the refrigerator. We opened the door to find the trap with the bait gone and our milk had been turned green.

Thursday: We had corned beef & cabbage for dinner with key lime bars for dessert. (we delayed this so that we could have St. Patty's Day dinner with friends)

Friday: Dylan found Animal Crossing in his sock drawer.

There are no clues today that they are still here. Our leprechauns must have jumped on a rainbow and gone back to Ireland. We look forward to trying to catch them again next year!
